Kala-fornia Gala Auction coming up

One of my favorite places, the Kala Art Institute, is having its annual Art Auction this month, Kala-fornia State of the Art 2– a two week exhibition of works by prominent California artists. The exhibition kicks off on April 12 with a Preview and Silent Auction, and then culminates on April 28 with a Gala Auction. Channel 5 newscaster and artist, Dana King, will be the Mistress of Ceremonies.

Many of my best printmaking mates have donated pieces (including myself), and I am looking forward to seeing them all there. Come along to the Preview and meet everyone if you can – its a great place to pick up some really fabulous art  and have fun doing it.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite artists whose work you can see and bid for at the  auction:

Art Hazelwood, Ellen Heck, Jen Cole, Jessica Dunne, Nancy Mintz, Nora Pauwels, Robin McCloskey, Sandy Walker, Seiko Tachibana, Toru Sugita and Unai San Martin, to name a few.

While I’m on the subject of Kala,  I’ve just finished a 3 month long residency there printing my large scale monoprints and battling with the technically challenging (for me)  photopolymer plate making process. Next, I’m embarking on a series of artist books, but more on that later when I become the boss of that method, and it is no longer the boss of me!
